Objective: 

This course will enable the students to develop a nuanced understanding of French classicism and its literary conventions.

Socio-political & cultural conditions prevailing in France before and during the “Age of Classicism”, Classical norms of literature, Boileau, Introductory lecture on the great playwrights such as , Corneille, Racine & Moliere
